CUSTOM ORDERS

Last month, my Etsy shop had a little sale, which got me Five Custom Orders. And they all came at the end of the month, so needless to say, I've been a busy little bee.

I wanted to share with you what I created for my wonderful customers.

This first one was for Krystal over at Sassy Sanctuary. She needed a bag for Church. She teaches Sunday School, so she has a lot to carry along with her Bible. Along with being a Church Tote, it also doubles as a Diaber Bag. So now every Sunday, she can load it up with Everything she needs and go in Style.
Krystal selected the two main fabrics and sent them to me.
I added the third fabric to be used for this cute Ruffle embellishment...
and for a little trim detail on the inside pockets.
I think the size turned out great, and I will probably be making more of these to add to my shop.

These next three are for a High School classmate of mine you wanted bags for herself and her two daughters - one being 15 and the other being 21. My only instructions were that they needed to be black and white, and all different.

LOVE the Bling Button on this one.

Can you guess who got which one?

And this last one is for another High School classmate. She told me she likes black and whites, but that she also likes green. When I saw this fabric, I got so excited. I knew it would be the perfect one.

LOVE the little Rosette Button... so much so, I also used it on one of the bags above...

and, I added the little Ruffle detail.

What do you think of the little ruffle? It's new for me, but I might start doing it more.

Hopefully, these inspired you to come visit me at my Etsy shop, and maybe have me whip something beautiful up for you.

CHRISTMAS PURSE - A MODIFIED REBECCA

Last week, when Sourkraut (I'm assuming that's not your real name?) over at Langes Fadchen, Faules Madchen posted that Bev at Flamingo Toes was offering the opportunity to download one of her purse patterns for free, I jumped on it right away. I also follow Flamingo Toes, but I had missed this particular post. Anyway, since I have my own little purse shop on Etsy, I wanted to try to make Bev's cute Rebecca Shoulder Bag. Be sure to go to the link above to see the original.

I had just finished some custom purses for an Etsy client, and I had a bunch of this fabulous green fabric left over (thank you Laura). Then I remembered, that a friend of mine had given me a bunch of fabric, in which there was this really cool red and white faces pattern (thank you Heidi). Hmmm... red, white and green? I could make a way funky Christmas purse.

So I had the fabric, but I didn't have a zipper or strap rings, and I wasn't going to be at a fabric store anytime soon. The Rebecca would have to be modified. After my success at making my Princess Leia gown without a pattern, my confidence for this modification was high.

Here is my version of Rebecca...
Since there was to be no zipper, I had to come up with another closure method. I copied the ruffle detail from the front, and added it to the back - with extended length, to create a flap. I figured, since I will only be carrying this bag one month out of the year, a zipper for ensuring secured purse contents, would not be missed.
Since I had no strap rings, a big modification would have to be done to secure the strap. I cut the strap to the same length as the pattern indicated, but I pleated the sides of the purse to make their width match the width of the strap. My overall strap length is shorter than the original, but it works great.
The inside of the bag is constructed as the pattern indicated. Love the detailing on the pockets.
Since I also did not have any type of snap closure, I just used velcro to hold the flap in place. I then made a rolled fabric flower out of some coordinating Christmas fabric I had, to dress the flap up a bit.

So what do you think? If I were to make this again, I would definitely add some interfacing throughout to make it a little sturdier. I'm sure the zipper would help with that, but honestly, I'm not a fan of sewing in zippers.

Bev and Sourkraut, thanks for the inspiration

I wasn't planning on offering Custom Requests, but that's where I seem to have the most interest.

TO SELL, OR NOT TO SELL... THAT IS THE QUESTION

A lot of you mentioned that if you didn't win my Giveaway, you would be interested in buying one. Were you all serious? I hope so, because I think I've decided to set up a shop on Etsy.com.
Before I set it up officially, I need to build up my inventory.

Here are six combinations that I've got in the works.

BTW, I still haven't been contacted from the Winner, Lynn, so if I don't hear from her, I will draw another winner. Stay tuned.

ANOTHER PURSE

This one is not for a giveaway. This one is for a kind neighbor.

We have neighbors, Jim and Bonnie Usas, who have a beautiful vegetable garden. In the middle of their garden, they designated a small area for my son Luke to plant his own little garden.

As a way of saying Thanks, I made this purse for Miss Bonnie. She said her favorite colors were Purple and Periwinkle. I hope she doesn't mind them mixed with Kelly Green.

Again, I'm LOVING the button I found for this one.

We're going to take it over for Luke to give it to her tonight.

MY FIRST GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!

Last week, over on my Family Blog, I posted pictures of a purse I had made. My inspiration for the purse came from my Mom. She had made me two of this style, and was kind enough to also send me the pattern.

I went right out and bought some fabric to try to make one myself. I had SOOO much fun making it, that I thought it might be nice if I made one to give away as a kind of "Grand Opening" gift for this new blog.

So here it is...

It's made of 100% cotton (that has been pre-washed), so it's washable. It has ties on the side for adjustability. The inside has great little organizational pockets for all your important necessities , and it has a removable bottom, which is also washable (just remove cardboard insert).

Don't you just LOVE the color combo, and what can I say about that Button? Isn't it just to die for?

Well, I don't want any of you to die for it, but if any of you would like to win it, here's what you need to do to enter the Giveaway:
1. PLEASE leave me a Comment!!
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY
2. Become a FOLLOWER of this blog.

Wow, thats it!! Just two simple things. How hard could that be?

You can enter up till Midnight Saturday, July 17th, and I will announce the winner on Sunday, July 18th. Be sure to do both steps.

Good Luck, and Thank You for coming to my Grand Opening.
