This post is for all my followers out there who still have kids in Diapers.
Back in March, my youngest, Grey (a.k.a. Porkchop) had a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, Diaper Rash. His little bottom was so red and so raw, it bled. We couldn't use wipes because they stung him, so every Diaper change required a thorough wipe down with a warm soapy washcloth. I pretty much set up a changing station at the kitchen sink. I know that sounds gross, but neither of our bathrooms have a countertop. Anyway, I digress.
When we were at the doctor's office for my oldest, Luke's, 2.5 year checkup, I had the doctor look at Porkchop's rash. He recommended Maalox. Supposedly, there is something in it that would help soothe the pain and combat the rash. So I went out and bought Maalox, and after cleaning the bum, I would coat it with a thick layer of Maalox. Well that didn't work. It seemed to for the first couple of days, but then after that, it seemed to be making the rash worse.
So, I got online and Googled Diaper Rash Remedies. And boy were there a lot of them. But there was one that was consistent... Bag Balm. It's what dairy farmers use on their milking cow's udders when they get chapped.
I found it at Walgreens, but I'm sure any drug-store would have it. It was in the lotion section on the bottom shelf. I don't remember how much it was, but at that point I would have paid anything. But it does last a long time, it's now the middle of July and I'm still on my first can.
So back in March, during EVERY Diaper change, we would slather Porkchop's behind with the Bag Balm. It took a good month for his diaper rash to finally go away, but now, when there is even ANY sign of redness, I use the Bag Balm, and the redness is gone by the next Diaper change.
I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY, recommend this product.
From Cow Udders to Baby Bottoms... it's a Good Thing.
No, it's a GREAT Thing!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. My youngest son has boughts of diahrea (sp) often - every few weeks he has it and then he's okay for a couple weeks and then he gets it again, not sure what's wrong - anyway, his bum gets a rash so quickly and his skin is so sensitive we haven't found anything that really works. So next time I am definately trying this one! Thanks!
